The Known Universe

The Known Universe takes viewers from the Himalayas through our atmosphere and the inky black of space to the afterglow of the Big Bang. Every star, planet, and quasar seen in the film is possible because of the world's most complete four-dimensional map of the universe, the Digital Universe Atlas that is maintained and updated by astrophysicists at the American Museum of Natural History.

This is an amazing video, and is very good at making you appreciate just how miniscule we are in the vastness of space. Never mind the science & technology involved in its creation!

It reminded me of another video that put things in to universal contexts - if you have time check it out. Part 2 + 3 - probably most relevant to this post, however the entire exposition is also very good putting our existence into a greater context!

Yes it never ceases to remind me that "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge." Psalm 19
